The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called for the immediate implementation of its agreement with Iran, signed last week in Cairo.
IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi said Monday that the understanding reached with Iran is crucial to restoring confidence in the agency’s oversight work, which was interrupted during the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
Grossi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi signed the agreement to resume coordination and inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Relations between Iran and the IAEA were cut off during the conflict, and Iran has since denied inspectors access to its nuclear sites.
