Iraqi Electricity Minister Ziad Ali announced on Saturday the launch of the Basra solar project, one of the country’s largest renewable energy initiatives. Spanning 9,000 acres and featuring around two million solar panels, the project is expected to generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity and ease Iraq’s ongoing power shortages.
