A drone crashed near the village of Gomezal in Bangird township, part of Dukan district in the Sulaimani governorate, on Thursday, June 19, 2025. The Dukan governor’s office confirmed the incident in an official statement, noting that there were no casualties or material damage as a result of the crash.
Security forces arrived promptly at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drone’s crash. The authorities have not released information on the origin or purpose of the drone.
The incident follows a series of similar drone crashes and interceptions in recent days across the Kurdistan Region, including areas such as Karadag, Erbil, and Makhmur. Local officials and security units remain on alert as concerns rise over increased aerial activity in the region.
