Iraqi Finance Minister Taif Sami announced on Friday a significant increase in customs revenue following the implementation of the ASICUD automated customs system. According to official statistics, revenue rose from 375.6 billion dinars to 435.4 billion dinars — an increase of more than 59.7 billion dinars.
Sami noted that the Iraqi General Customs Authority has rolled out the system in 15 customs centers across the country. He also confirmed that the government has already begun implementing the second phase of the system, which is expected to continue for two years.
The automated system aims to modernize and streamline customs procedures, improve transparency, and reduce corruption.
