The May 1 Committee for Workers’ Rights announced on Tuesday that 12 workers have died in workplace accidents across the Kurdistan Region since the beginning of this year.
According to the committee, the fatalities occurred across three provinces: four in Sulaimani, five in Erbil, and three in Duhok. The victims, aged between 17 and 68, lost their lives due to falls from heights, electric shocks, and accidents involving heavy equipment.
The committee criticized the lack of workplace safety measures, stressing that many workers operate without adequate protective equipment, putting their lives at serious risk.
