On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the bombing of Qaladze and the 43rd anniversary of the shooting of the Raperin uprising by the Ba'ath regime, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani issued a heartfelt message honoring the victims of these tragic events.
In his statement, Barzani emphasized that the people of Qaladze, who suffered under the brutality of the Ba'ath regime, would be commemorated with dignity and respect. He reiterated that their memory would never be forgotten and the tragedy would be remembered as a symbol of the Kurdish people's resilience and determination for freedom.
"We will commemorate them with dignity," Barzani said, marking the solemn occasion. The bombing of Qaladze and the shooting of the Raperin uprising are significant chapters in the history of the Kurdish struggle for justice and independence.
What Happened in Qaladze 51 Years Ago:
In 1974, the Ba'ath regime carried out an airstrike on the Kurdish city of Qaladze, targeting civilians and causing widespread destruction. The attack was part of the regime's brutal efforts to suppress the Kurdish people’s fight for autonomy. In addition, on the same day, Kurdish demonstrators in Qaladze were violently shot during an uprising, further deepening the tragedy and pain experienced by the region.
