636 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Thursday (May 13) it officially recorded 636 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 235 new cases in Sulaimani governorate, 198 in Duhok, 123 in Erbil, 58 in the Garmian administration, and twenty-two in Halabja.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said six patients had died from the disease, while 1,046 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 159,537 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 141,307 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 4,137 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
