Officials in Kurdistan Region wish a happy Eid al-Fitr

SULAIMANI — Marking a conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, officials in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday (May 12) wished Muslims in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and across the world a happy Eid al-Fitr.

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani extended his warmest congratulations, saying that he hoped that Eid will bring joy and an end to unhappiness and misery and that it would encourage peace and harmony between the different components of the Kurdistan Region.

He also called on people to abide by self-protection measures and public health guidelines to avoid a surge of coronavirus infections.

Kurdistan Regional President Nechirvan Barzani said “let us all turn a new page of unity and acceptance” in order to better serve the people of the Region and step towards a better future of stability, protecting rights, freedoms, law, and the judiciary.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Rewaz Fayaq said in a tweet that she hopes Eid would deepen the spirit of unity and brotherhood between all different religions and components.

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Co-president Bafel Talabani called on the political parties make this celebration an occasion to further revitalize the spirit of unity, closeness, and joint work in order to provide worthy lives and livelihoods for the people of the Region.
