829 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Monday (May 10) it officially recorded 829 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past 24 hours.

There were 328 new cases in Duhok governorate, 259 in Sulaimani, 183 in Erbil, 51 in the Garmian administration, and eight in Halabja.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said ten patients had died from the disease, while 1,142 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 157,482 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 138,021 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 4,118 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
