Minor earthquake hits Sulaimani governorate

SULAIMANI — The University of Tehran’s Iranian Seismological Center said that a 3.9 magnitude earthquake hit Sulaimani governorate on Wednesday (September 23).

The quake occurred at 9:29 p.m. EBL (18:29 UTC) at a depth of ten kilometers with an epicenter in Sulaimani city.

There were no initial reports of damage.

The Kurdistan Region lies near a major fault line and routinely experiences tremors.
