5,055 new coronavirus cases reported in Iraq, including 1,623 in Baghdad: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Wednesday (September 23) that it recorded 5,055 new cases of coronavirus infection and 72 deaths in the country.

Of the total 1,623 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 416 in Wasit, 370 in Duhok, 357 in Dhi Qar, 345 in Sulaimani, 327 in Basra, 263 in Diwaniya, 240 in Erbil, 158 in Saladin, 155 in Muthanna, 154 in Karbala, 142 in Maysan, 125 in Nineveh, 117 in Kirkuk, 104 in Najaf, 68 in Diyala, 67 in Babil, and twenty four in Anbar.

The ministry said that 72 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 3,231 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 332,635 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 264,988 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 8,754 have died from it.
