Kurdistan Region passes 17,000 officially recorded coronavirus cases: health ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Sunday (August 9) that it has recorded 542 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

A total of 285 of the newest cases are in Erbil governorate, along with 160 in Duhok, 56 in Sulaimani, 25 in the Garmian administration, and sixteen in Halabja.

The ministry also said that seventeen patients have died from the virus, while 141 patients recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 17,039 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 10,143 patients has recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 648 have died from it.
