SULAIMANI — The northeastern city of Tel Abyad was hit by a deadly bombing on Tuesday (July 7), according to local media outlets.

North Press Agency said that vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) blew up near the Criminal Security Directorate in the city center, killing two people.

The Turkish military and allied rebel groups took control of the city during its military offensive in October of last year.

A statement from Turkey’s Defense Ministry put the death toll at six, with eleven others wounded, and blamed the People’s Protection Units (YPG) for the attack.

No group has so far claimed responsibility.
