‪SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said late on Thursday (April 9) that it had recorded nine new cases of coronavirus in Erbil.

The newest patients include three men and six women. Seven of them are part of the Karezan funeral cluster.

So far, 324 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. Three patients have died of COVID-19, which is the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 134 of them recovered.

More than 80 people have now become sick following a funeral in late March in Erbil city’s Karezan neighborhood, which was held in defiance of a government ban on such gatherings.
