Fifteen Kurds die in Iran over last 24 hours from COVID-19: Hengaw

SULAIMANI — Over the last 24 hours, fifteen people have died in Iranian Kurdistan from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, Hengaw Organization said on Monday (March 30).

The organization, which monitors human rights abuses in Iranian Kurdistan, said that Kurdistan province has 115 new cases of coronavirus infection, West Azerbaijan has 79, Kermanshah has 70, and Ilam has 51.

In total, at least 415 ethnic Kurds in Iran have died of COVID-19, according to the organization, including 53 in Urmia, 51 in Sanandaj, 27 in Kermanshah, and 21 in Ilam. The remainder of the deaths occurred in smaller towns and villages.

An Iranian government official said Monday that the country as a whole had 3,186 new infections over the past 24 hours and 117 patients died. So far, a total of 2,757 people have died and 41,495 have been infected.
