SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Friday (January 24) that no cases of the coronavirus currently effecting parts of China have been recorded in Iraq and that officials have made extensive and thorough preparations to inspect visitors for signs of the virus.

“We have taken appropriate measures in the airports and border crossing points to check for the virus, especially people who come from those countries that are neighboring China and those countries that the virus had spread to,” Ministry of Health spokesperson Saif Badr said.

Chinese authorities have confirmed that more than 800 people had been infected and 25 have died.
