SULAIMANI — The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masoud Barzani said in a statement on Thursday (December 5) that Islamic State (ISIS) militants remain a threat and offered his condolences to the Peshmerga who died in a recent attack.

ISIS militants attacked the Peshmerga’s Third Brigade in Kulajo town in the Garmian administration on Wednesday night. Three members of the Peshmerga were killed and two others were wounded.

“Unfortunately, three Peshmerga soldiers were martyred. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and hope the injured recover quickly,” said Barzani.

“The recent attacks show that the terrorists have reorganized themselves and are a serious danger to the stability of the area,” he added.

The village was also the site of a deadly attack last week in which three Asayish were killed, including a commander.
