The Iraqi Ministry of Commerce has firmly denied reports circulating on social media and some local outlets alleging that wheat stored in government warehouses has been poisoned, stressing that all domestic wheat stocks are safe, clean, and regularly inspected.

In a statement issued Sunday, the ministry said that after the receipt and storage of wheat from farmers and grain trading companies, each batch undergoes intensive laboratory testing and remains under strict monitoring to ensure its safety and quality.

"All wheat products stored in the ministry’s warehouses are safe and suitable for consumption,” the statement read. "Making such claims without scientific evidence or an official technical report misleads public opinion and damages public trust.”

The ministry urged citizens to verify information through official government channels rather than relying on unverified rumors spread online. Officials emphasized that Iraq’s grain storage and monitoring system includes multiple safety checks designed to prevent contamination or spoilage at any stage of handling.

The denial comes amid public concern following rumors suggesting that some wheat supplies may have been tainted. However, the ministry insisted that no official laboratory results or investigations have confirmed such claims.
