The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) has issued a warning to families of disabled persons after reports emerged of fraudulent attempts to collect personal information and money under the guise of processing disability and social welfare salaries.
According to the ministry’s statement, unidentified individuals have been contacting families, claiming to provide disability and social welfare payments. The callers ask for national ID cards, personal details, and the names of other disabled, sick, or elderly individuals. They then allegedly use this information to solicit mobile recharge cards and money transfers from the victims.
The ministry stressed that it has no connection to these activities and that all legitimate announcements and services will be communicated through official channels. It further emphasized that these actions constitute fraud and that legal measures will be taken against the perpetrators.
