The Communist Workers’ Left Party of Iraq has strongly denounced the arrest and house raid of Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir, leader of the New Generation Movement, describing such actions as the work of "militia gangs” and a blatant attack on political freedoms.
In a statement issued Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Party Secretary Samir Nuri said the detention and alleged kidnapping of political figures represent open opposition to freedom of political activity and expression in the Kurdistan Region.
"We strongly condemn the arrest and kidnapping of Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir. If there is any issue or complaint against him, it must be addressed in an open court under proper legal procedures,” Nuri stressed.
The party called for the official recognition and protection of political freedom, freedom of expression, and the right to engage in political activity without fear of raids, arrests, or intimidation.
