The Sulaimani court has extended the arrest of Shaswar Abdulwahid Qadir, the leader of the New Generation Movement, until Thursday, August 21, 2025, NRT reported.
Since this morning, all New Generation Movement MPs and hundreds of volunteers have gathered at the Sulaimani court in support of Abdulwahid. Dozens of independent lawyers from across the Kurdistan Region have also attended to provide legal assistance and defend the movement’s leader.
The extension comes amid heightened tensions as supporters demand his release, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent judicial process.
