Iraq is set to reach self-sufficiency in gasoline supplies by the end of 2025, according to Ali Shamari, a member of the Iraqi parliament’s Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee. Speaking to Al-Sabah newspaper on Tuesday, Shamari said the country currently sells 25 million liters of gasoline daily.
He added that Iraq’s refining and supply capacity has reached a record 1.5 million barrels per day, enabling it to meet demand for gas, kerosene, and diesel while exporting part of the surplus.
Shamari noted that Iraq now imports 15% of regular gasoline and 80% of Premium gasoline However, with the launch of new refinery units later this year, gasoline imports will completely cease.
