The Iraqi National Housing Council has announced steps to write off housing debts owed by the families of security forces’ martyrs, members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi), and victims of terrorism. These families had received housing units in projects implemented by the Ministry of Reconstruction and Housing across Baghdad and other provinces.
Government sources told Al-Sabah newspaper that the decision is being reviewed in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, given the significant financial sums involved. The Martyrs Agency and relevant security authorities have already submitted lists of eligible beneficiaries.
Officials confirmed that the debt cancellations will be implemented immediately once the Ministry of Finance issues the necessary approvals, marking a significant step in honoring the sacrifices of these groups.
