A masked gunman opened fire on the director of Daratu district in Bardarash, wounding him and another individual, an NRT reporter said Thursday, July 17, 2025.
According to Bardarash health officials, the second injured person was transferred to Akre Hospital for treatment.
It is worth noting that incidents of shootings and killings remain alarmingly high in the Kurdistan Region, with various underlying causes. The outgoing government has failed to take meaningful action to limit the widespread possession of weapons.
