The Iraqi High Election Commission (IHEC) has outlined the conditions for candidates wishing to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Marwan Mohammed, head of IHEC’s Erbil branch, announced that individual candidates can now visit commission offices in their provinces to receive their registration codes until June. Candidates must be Iraqi nationals, at least 28 years old, with a high school diploma, and must not have been former Ba'athists or committed serious crimes. They must also reside in the province they represent, not be unjustly wealthy, and cannot be members of the armed forces or election commissions.
