Srwa Abdulwahid, leader of the New Generation Movement in the Iraqi parliament, has criticized the outdated Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), stating that it has no legal authority to sign multi-billion dollar contracts.

Speaking on Tuesday, Abdulwahid warned that the current KRG cabinet, whose mandate has expired, should not be entering into major financial agreements with foreign companies.

"The outdated government cannot sign any contracts with financial dimensions,” she said, referencing decisions by the Federal Court that limit the powers of caretaker governments.

Her remarks follow the KRG’s signing of two energy contracts with U.S. companies, reportedly worth $110 billion. Abdulwahid cautioned that such deals could face legal challenges and constitutional objections.

She called for the formation of a new, legitimate cabinet to oversee strategic financial decisions and long-term investments in the region.
