Germany has deported nearly 35 asylum seekers to Baghdad, most of whom are Kurds from various parts of the Kurdistan Region.
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a deportation flight from Germany to Iraq included a Yazidi family and two Yazidi women among the returnees. According to human rights activists and monitoring groups, this marks the 23rd deportation of Kurdish asylum seekers from Germany since the end of 2023.
Sources also indicate that another deportation is planned for April 29 from Frankfurt, with a follow-up flight scheduled from Düsseldorf in mid-May.
The deportation of Kurdish and Yazidi asylum seekers has raised concerns among human rights organizations due to the ongoing instability and risks in their home regions.
