Baghdad – The Independent High Electoral
Commission (IHEC) of Iraq announced that registration for political parties,
electoral lists, and coalitions wishing to participate in the upcoming
parliamentary elections will officially begin on May 15, 2025.
According to IHEC officials, all registration procedures
must be completed at the Commission’s National Office in Baghdad. The
registration window will remain open until May 4, 2025, which
marks the final deadline for political entities to formalize their
participation in the national vote.
Emad Jamil, head of IHEC’s media office, confirmed that
preparations for the electoral process are well underway. This includes
technical upgrades to biometric registration systems, real-time vote
transmission technology, and enhanced procedures aimed at ensuring transparency
and adherence to international standards.
IHEC has also reaffirmed its commitment to using biometric
voter cards and continuing efforts to register citizens who have not yet
provided their biometric data.
IHEC has vowed to conduct free, fair, and credible
elections across all Iraqi provinces.
