810 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health announced on Friday (April 16) it had officially recorded 952 new cases of coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours.

There were 372 new cases in Duhok governorate, 312 in Sulaimani, 199 in Erbil, 51 in Garmian administration, fourteen in Raparin administration, and three in Halabja.

On October 27, the Region recorded its highest single-day total with 1,597 infections.

The ministry also said ten patients had died from the disease, while 415 others recovered.

According to the health ministry, there have been 137,577 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 116,420 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 3,857 have died from it.

The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
