Kurdistan Region records over 1,000 new coronavirus cases for fifth consecutive day: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Friday (October 23) that it has recorded 1,053 cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region over the past 24 hours.

The Region also had more than 1,000 new cases on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and several days over 900 the previous week.

A total of 461 of the newest cases are in Erbil governorate, along with 425 in Duhok, 83 in Sulaimani, 33 in Garmian administration, 32 in Raparin administration, and nineteen in Halabja.

The ministry also said that twenty patients have died from the virus, while 400 recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 67,184 officially recorded cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 39,207 patients has recovered from COVID-19 and 2,263 have died from it.
