KIU's Salahadin Bahadin congratulates Erdogan on winning election

SULAIMANI – The Secretary General of Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), Salahadin Bahadin congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his recent election to the Turkish presidency.

“On behalf on me and Kurdistan Islamic Union, I extend warmest congratulations to your excellency, the state, people and presidency,” state-run agency for the Turkish government, Anadolu Agency cited Bahadin as saying.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan was officially inaugurated as president of Turkey after his election victory last month which allowed him to keep his post with increased powers.

He was sworn in at the Turkish parliament on Monday (July 9).

Bahadin said “I hope this victory [for Erdogan] becomes a turning point towards stability and democratic openness.”

“I wish that it also becomes an effective factor to strengthen the relationship between constituencies in the area on the basis of mutual interests, decent neighboring and for the sake of the legitimate inquiry.”

Erdogan named a streamlined cabinet of 16 ministers on Monday evening after the ceremony at the presidential palace for more than 7,000 guests, including Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Reuters reported.

According to official results for Turkey June 24 election, Erdogan was reelected and avoided a run-off election. He secured a 52.55 percent majority and received 26,068,146 votes in total.
