4,493 new coronavirus cases reported in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Thursday (October 1) that it recorded 4,493 new cases of coronavirus infection and 50 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

Of the total 1,698 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 427 in Dhi Qar, 375 in Wasit, 337 in Duhok, 295 in Basra, 229 in Erbil, 180 in Maysan, 176 in Diyala, 132 in Kirkuk, 122 in Diwaniya, 118 in Sulaimani, 96 in Nineveh, 75 in Babil, 74 in Najaf, 56 in Karbala, 49 in Muthanna, 37 in Anbar and seventeen in Saladin.

The ministry said that 50 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 3,685 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 367,474 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 295,882 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 9,231 have died from it.
