SULAIMANI — Iraq’s Security Media Cell said on Thursday (October 1) that a contractor convoy transporting supplies for the US-led International Coalition came under attack in Dhi Qar governorate’s Shumali sub-district.

The attack, which involved an unguided projectile, resulted in slight damage, but no casualties.

“The convoy continued to move toward its intended destination,” according to the statement.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast, but similar attacks in the past have been widely blamed on militias in the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

On Wednesday evening, six rockets were fired in the direction of Erbil International Airport, but landed without causing any casualties or significant damage. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) blamed militants associated with the PMF.
