SULAIMANI — Commander of Ezidikhan General Force Haider Shasho said late on Sunday (September 20) that a car exploded near the Sharfadin shrine in Sinjar district, but did not cause any casualties.

Shasho told NRT Digital Media that the explosion occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. local time.

Iraq's Security Media Cell said later that a Turkish drone was responsible and that three Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters had been in the vehicle at the time.

Shasho denied, however, that the explosion was a result of a Turkish airstrike, but did not provide an alternative explanation for the incident, saying that an investigation was ongoing.
