SULAIMANI — Turkish warplanes conducted airstrikes near Gali Bazey village in Duhok governorate’s Kani Masi sub-district early on Tuesday morning (September 8).

Local residents told NRT Digital Media that the warplanes bombed the area twice. They have not yet assessed the damage because of concerns there will be additional airstrikes.

There were no immediate reports of civilian casualties.

Turkey renewed its military campaign in the Kurdistan Region and northern Iraq on June 15, conducting extensive ground operations and launching dozens of airstrikes.

At least nine civilians have been killed and several others wounded.

The Turkish defense ministry said on Saturday that it had completed elements of its ground campaign, but continues to launch airstrikes.
