4,293 new COVID-19 cases reported in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Saturday (August 15) that it recorded 4,293 new cases of coronavirus and 76 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

A total of 1,068 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 462 in Basra, 443 in Erbil, 325 in Karbala, 290 in Najaf, 264 in Wasit, 214 in Babil, 184 in Kirkuk, 148 in Sulaimani, 169 in Muthanna, 126 in Diwaniya, 120 in each Maysan and Saladin, 67 in each Diyala and Duhok, 98 in Dhi Qar, 73 in Anbar and 55 in Nineveh.

The ministry said that 76 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, 2,571 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 172,583 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 122,600 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,785 have died from it.
