4,013 new coronavirus cases recorded in Iraq: health ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Friday (August 14) that it recorded 4,013 new cases of coronavirus and 68 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

A total of 831 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 411 in Erbil, 357 in Basra, 257 in Karbala, 252 in Wasit, 245 in Babil, 235 in Kirkuk, 222 in Najaf, 205 in Dhi Qar, 173 in Sulaimani, 170 in Maysan, 116 in Diwaniya, 108 in Diyala, 106 in Nineve, 89 in Anbar, 83 in Duhok, 79 in Muthanna, and 74 in Saladin.

The ministry said that 68 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, 2,921 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 168,290 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 120,129 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,709 have died from it.
