3,841 new coronavirus cases reported in Iraq: health ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Thursday (August 13) that it recorded 3,841 new cases of coronavirus and 53 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

A total of 577 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 383 in Basra, 323 in Erbil, 315 in Nineveh, 291 in Najaf, 285 in Karbala, 244 in Kirkuk, 196 in Dhi Qar, 172 in Wasit, 163 In Saladin, 160 in Maysan, 152 Muthanna, 143 in Duhok, 105 in Babil, 103 in Sulaimani, 88 in Diwaniya, 72 in Anbar, and 65 in Diyala.

The ministry said that 53 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, 2,667 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 164,277 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 117,208 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 5,641 have died from it.
