Nearly 3,000 new coronavirus cases recorded in Iraq: health ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Friday (July 10) that it recorded 2,848 new cases of coronavirus and 78 deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

A total of 977 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, 496 in Wasit, 194 in Najaf, 189 in Sulaimani, 152 in Kirkuk, 122 in Basra, 106 in Erbil, 91 Diyala, 91 in Babil, 91 in Diwaniya, 80 in Karbala, 78 in Dhi Qar, 76 in Maysan, 45 in Muthanna, 25 in Saladdin, twenty-three in Nineveh, nine in Anbar, and three in Duhok.

The ministry said that 78 patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 1,878 patients recovered from it.

According to the health ministry, there have been 72,460 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 41,380 patients have recovered from COVID-19, and 2,960 have died from it.
