SULAIMANI — The Sulaimani Coronavirus Operations Room said in a statement on Thursday (July 9) that all government offices will reopen on July 12.

The statement said that employees and visitors will have to follow the health and safety regulations set by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health.

It added that the restrictions put on Sulaimani Bazaar previously will be eased and vehicles allowed to enter freely.

The KRG initially suspended work at all government offices because of the coronavirus outbreak in the Kurdistan Region in March. After reopening in Sulaimani for several weeks in May, they closed down again in June due to the surging number of cases following Ramadan.

According to the health ministry, there have been 8,428 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 3,008 patients have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 282 have died from it.
