Kurdistan Region sets new one-day total with 495 new coronavirus cases

Surges past 8,000 total cases

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Tuesday (July 7) that it has recorded 495 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan Region.

A total of 216 of the newest cases are in Sulaimani governorate, 186 in Erbil, 59 in the Garmian administration, 25 in Duhok, and nine in Halabja.

The ministry also said that eight patients died from the virus, including five from Sulaimani, two from the Garmian administration, and one from Erbil, while 79 patients recovered from the disease.

According to the health ministry, there have been 8,134 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. An official tally of 2,868 patients have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and 271 have died from it.
