SULAIMANI — Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said on Tuesday (July 7) that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) shot and killed a shepherd in the high mountains near Sardasht city on the Wazena plain.

Hengaw, which closely monitors human rights violations in Iranian Kurdistan, named the shepherd as Yousif Ahmed from Alwatan village in Sardasht’s Mirawa area.

The incident took place at 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

On July 3, the IRGC fired on a group of shepherds inside the Kurdistan Region across the border from Iran’s Piranshar city, severely wounding a 17-year-old.

Iran has also recently engaged in shelling and airstrikes against Iranian Kurdish opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the area around Haji Omaran.
