Eighth person dies from COVID-19 in Kurdistan Region: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Tuesday (June 2) that a patient has died in Erbil governorate from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, bringing the Kurdistan Region’s death toll to eight.

The ministry said that the patient was a 51-year-old man who is from Erbil’s Binaslawa sub-district. He was admitted to the hospital on May 27 when he presented with severe symptoms of the disease.

According to the ministry, he remained in an unstable condition and passed away after five days in the intensive care unit. He had an underlying health issue, according to the ministry.

There have been 745 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. Four hundred and twenty patients have recovered from COVID-19

Of the Region’s eight deaths, six have been in Sulaimani and two in Erbil.
