Nine new coronavirus cases in Kurdistan Region on Friday: ministry

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health said on Friday (May 28) that it recorded nine new case of coronavirus across the Region over the last 24 hours.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, the ministry announced that a 36-year-old man from Semel who works as a security guard at Baghdad International Airport tested positive in Duok after returning from Baghdad.

Later on Friday night, officials released another statement that said two men from Erbil, aged 58 and 35, and five men and one woman in Sulaimani also tested positive for coronavirus.

The statement added that only one of the newest patients in Sulaimani had been identified through contact tracing and that all of the others had presented with symptoms.

According to health minister, there have been 575 cases of coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region. Four hundred and nine patients have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, and five have died from it.
