216 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Tuesday (May 26) that it recorded 216 new cases of coronavirus and six deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.

One hundred and sixty-eight of the newest cases were in Baghdad governorate, nine in Nineveh, eight in Erbil, eight in Babil, six in Kerbala, five in Najaf, three in Basra, three in Wasit, two in Saladdin, two in Diyala, one in Diwaniyah, and one in Dhi Qar.

The ministry said that six patients died from the virus, five in Baghdad and one in Diyala, and forty-one patients recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection.

According to the health ministry, there have been 4,848 cases of coronavirus in Iraq. 2,852 patients have recovered from COVID-19, and 169 have died from it.
