KRG issues new regulation for Eid al-Fitr

SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Interior on Saturday (May 23) issued new regulations for Eid al-Fitr.

According to the regulations, the first day of Eid will see a total lockdown in the Kurdistan Region and all travel within and between the governorates and be restricted, the lockdown will start from Saturday May 23 at midnight.

The ministry said that from the second day they would allow fruit and vegetable markets to reopen and bakeries and markets will be allowed to work following health and safety measures.

The ministry added that journalists will be allowed to travel freely during the lockdown but only if they have permits and documents from their news agencies.

On May 18 the KRG said that it would implement a 72-hour lockdown from the first day of Eid al-Fitr, which will begin on Sunday, in all governorates and administrations of the Kurdistan Region.
