30 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Iraq: ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Thursday (April 9) that it had recorded 30 new cases of coronavirus infection in Iraq over the past 24 hours.

Twelve of the newest patients are in Baghdad, eight in Basra, two in Dhi Qar, two in Diyala, and one case in each of Wasit, Najaf, Erbil, Sulaimani, Kirkuk, and Karbala.

The ministry added that there were no deaths during that period caused by COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, while 44 patients recovered from it.

According to the ministry, 1,232 people have tested positive for coronavirus infection in Iraq since the outbreak started. Sixty-nine people have died from COVID-19 and 496 patients have recovered.
