Iraq tops 1,000 official coronavirus cases: health ministry

SULAIMANI — The federal Ministry of Health said on Monday (April 6) that it has recorded 70 new cases of coronavirus infection in Iraq, bringing the country’s total to 1,031.

Forty-one of the newest patients were in Erbil governorate, nine in Basra, seven in Dhi Qar, four in Najaf, four in Baghdad, three in Sulaimani, and two in Karbala.

Three patients also died from the COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus infection, including two in Basra and one in Baghdad.

According to the health ministry, 344 patients have now recovered from the disease and 64 patients have died from it.
