SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health on Friday night (March 27) called on travelers who returned to the Region from Europe between March 1 and March 14 to get tested for coronavirus as soon as possible, if they have not already done so.

“We call on those people to call the 122 telephone hotline or to visit one of the medical centers for testing for coronavirus in the cities and districts,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that getting tested was for their benefit and that of their families.

A person who returned from Sweden is believed to have been the source of an outbreak in Darbandikhan that has infected at least fifteen people, leading to the quarantine of the town.

Meanwhile, Halabja health directorate said that the newest patient recorded in Halabja is a local vendor and has not travelled abroad recently, suggesting that he was infected inside the Kurdistan Region.
