SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said on Thursday (September 12) that it has allotted 33.876 billion Iraqi dinars ($28.4 million) for road repair projects in the Kurdistan Region.

During a news conference, KRG Spokesperson Jutyar Adil said that the government will take a whole of Region approach and that projects will take place in Sulaimani, Erbil, Duhok, and Halabja, as well as Ranya and Raparin administrations.

“All the road projects will be implemented in the two months and fifteen days before winter,” Adil added.

The government has often made promises to repair the Region’s roads, but conditions are still dangerous in many areas.

Drivers have complained that potholes and other hazards have contributed to the large number fatal crashes that occur in the Region.
